The Fall 2020 Wedding Dress Trend You’ve Been Waiting For
Bridal fashion week is always a fun time because we get to see a new season of styles. We get to see a new wedding dress trend emerge that’s fun and different.
Every season always has a few wedding dress trends seen across many designers.
Unfortunately, most of this season’s trends weren’t so great.
There were lots of feathers. And an abundance of tulle. Neither of which are bad in and of themselves, but the looks were not anything inspiring. It almost felt forced.
Then there were definitely some references to past decades and eras namely the 60’s and Edwardian era. And once again, there’s nothing wrong with past eras, but the dresses just weren’t modern and cool.
Lastly, there were tons of off the shoulder dresses. Some with big puffy sleeves, some with long balloon sleeves. Some with small arm cuffs or delicate draping sleeves.
They came in different shapes and sizes and they were everywhere!
Some were lovely and different like this Monique Lhullier green dress.

But most just didn’t work. And seeing them over and over didn’t help the cause.
But, it wasn’t all bad.
Now that we’ve dispensed with the not so great trends, here’s one wedding dress trend I really liked.
There were a bunch of dresses that were what I like to call, spunky.
What does that mean you ask?
The style is a mixture of things.
It’s a little bit of this and a little bit of that and just… a little different.
It’s perhaps a little funky. A little non-traditional.
But it’s totally confident.
And it could be worn with boots.
Check out my favorite dresses and this fun wedding dress trend from the Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2020 shows.
And as you look at these think… I’m a little bit country, and I’m a little bit rock ‘n roll…

This sparkly halter wedding dress by Hayley Paige is shiny all right, but also spunky with its asymmetrical hem. Her accessories definitely sell the cowboy, but I what I really like is the juxtaposition of the style. It’s sparkly, but down home.

This 2 piece crop top and skirt outfit by Rime Arodaky is just plain fun. It’s delicate but strong with an “I do what I like” attitude.

When you think corsets, you think dainty ladylike girls. But, this structured bodice has got some funk. This wedding dress by Carol Hannah has those feminine elements, but done in a rock star way. She even has arm warmers and tousled hair.

I love me an off white dress and this creamy wedding dress by Danielle Frankel has got so much spunk. It’s short, it’s belted. And the skirt is even hiked up and ready for dancing.

Eyelet + jumpsuit = summer wedding dreams. This happy jumpsuit by Laure de Sagazan is ready to take on the outdoors. It’s casually confident. No silk, tulle or beading needed here.

This crystal jumpsuit and skirt by Fancy White by Galia Lahav is just that, fancy. And yet it’s also totally bad ass.

This short wedding dress by Ines di Santo is more than meets the eye. The flowers are 3D and the hemline is torn like. It’s both organic and structured. And quite spunky.

This sleek wedding dress by Theia has got the perfect accessory, a red cape. This Frida Kahlo look is all about strength. The dress is classic, the cape is fiery spunk.

A simple short wedding dress is always a winner, but when you pair it with a fun and funky jacket, it’s a rock star. This wedding outfit by Justin Alexander Signature is ready to party.

What’s more spunky than black and white? These Vera Wang dresses play with contrast and a little graffiti for non-traditional look. And I dig it because it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
How fun are all these spunky wedding dresses? Did you notice that they’re all different with different styles?
They’re not for the same woman, but they’re all for a strong woman.
I love this wedding dress trend, because of the strength. The combo, the contrast, and a juxtaposition of styles is what’s so strong about it.
And all of which is super confident and take charge.
Totally feminine, but bad ass. Just like the woman you are.
