“When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad…I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad…”
What a classic Sound of Music song, right?!

And such a great reminder.
Because when your mom or dad is relentlessly sharing their opinion…
When you just spent way more money than you should on your wedding dress….
When you find out your hair and makeup artist just cancelled on you because she’s pregnant…
Or when you just can’t redo your seating chart one more time…
When planning your wedding is hard or irritating or just plain sucky, there’s one thing you must remember.
How lucky you are.

It’s like getting angry about how your internet isn’t working fast enough. And then there are people who’ve lost homes and loved ones in the California wildfires.
There is a bigger picture.
One that means so much more than the current wedding planning issue you’re facing.
But, it’s so easy to get caught up in the frustration, anger or irritation. We all do it. And it’s not your fault.
But, that’s exactly why it’s so important to remember what you have and how lucky you really are. And how grateful you are. Because I know you are.
You’ve found someone that you love, that you’ve chosen to share your life with. And that’s huge!
But, you’re also planning a wedding. This special celebration and party that is so full of love and joy. Which let’s face it, is awesome!
All of that is so happy.
And when you look at your bigger picture, it makes the rest just melt away doesn’t it?

It’s the one thing you must remember to do when you’re planning your wedding. Look at your life, remember what you have and be thankful.
Because inevitably things will get hard at some point. They always do.
Whether it has to do with family or friends, your budget or all the details.
You can get sucked in by it and let it consume you…
Or you can remember how luck you are and glide your way through it.
Because you don’t want to be one of those brides that have been popping up in the news all year.
Like the one who got upset when their guests didn’t come to their wedding. Or the one that thought their guests should pay for their wedding. Or the one who treated their wedding party like dirt.
Don’t be that bride or that couple.
Be grateful. Be thankful. And then be happy! Because it’s such a happy time.
Remember this one thing when you’re planning your wedding and then you won’t feel so bad.
