3 Steps to Get Your Wedding Back on Track
Can you feel it? Fall is coming. Summer is over and it’s back to school time. And while you may not be in school, the seasonal shift is a good time to take stock of your wedding and look forward.
Things may have fallen to the wayside during the summer holidays, vacations and beach time. And that’s ok! Everyone needs down time from work, from your normal routine, even from your wedding.
But, now is the perfect time to get back on track so that your wedding is everything you want it to be.

Step #1 – Schedule it out
It’s time to take stock of what you’ve done and how much time you have left. So, take a look at your timeline and your to do list. What have you accomplished? Congratulate yourself on what you’ve done, because it’s great!
Now, take a look at what you’re behind on. What didn’t get completed? Or what decisions do you still need to make? It’s ok, don’t feel bad. Everyone falls behind at some point.
And then you want to look ahead. What do you have left to do?
Then take your list and make a new schedule from now to your wedding day. Space out the items you have to take care of. This includes the items you still haven’t done and the future items you need to do.
This will help to right the ship and get your wedding back on track if you’ve gone a little astray.
This also gives you due dates to shoot for which is always helpful. And it also allows you to pace yourself so you’re not doing everything all at once.

Step #2 – Go shopping
Now that you have your new schedule, it’s time to get what you need. You won’t be shopping for pencils and notebooks, but it could be your wedding dress or rings. You may still need to register or get your marriage license. Maybe you’re looking into decor. Or perhaps you need to start hiring vendors.
Take a look at what you need and start researching. Figure out what you want and take a look at some options. Then talk to some people and make a decision.
Most of these items can’t be done in a day (although some easy items might be), so starting early gives you time. It gives you time to go through the process and make a decision that makes sense for your wedding. Which gets your wedding back on track and moving forward.

Step #3 – Get stuff done!
This is a great time for some reflection. Not just on what you’ve done like in step #1, but where you’re spending your time. And how you’re feeling. Reflection can help you assess what’s working (and what isn’t) so you can move forward in the best way possible.
The biggest job you’ll have when planning your wedding is making decisions. And it can also be the hardest because you need info in order to make a decision.
But, in order to get stuff done you have to make decisions. That’s how you move forward.
If you’re struggling because you can’t seem to move forward, it’s time to assess how you can help that. Take a look at where you’re spending your time and if you want to be spending your time there. Take a look at what frustrates you or is hard for you and then ask for help.
You won’t be asking a teacher, but you can get help from a pro wedding planner. Get help to make the areas that are either hard for you or things you don’t want to do, easier.
This will make planning your wedding so much easier because then you can focus on making decisions. And in turn, get stuff done and get your wedding back on track!
