Magical Scotland Destination Wedding in the Isle of Skye

Every wedding has a story and for this magical destination wedding inspiration shoot in Scotland, it all started with an instagram comment.

That comment brought me to couple of talented women, stylist and stationer, Kristy Rice from Momental Designs and wedding photographer Danielle Coons from Danielle Coons Photography.

Fate brought us together and when we came together we started dreaming about Scotland.

We dreamt of love, magic, and nature…

We dreamt of ruins and vast landscapes and lots of green…

And we dreamt of that indescribable otherworldly feeling you get when you’re in a place that has soul and history.

And then we started creating.

As the planner and designer, my role is first to help create and refine the vision. And then, bring together a team that can execute that vision.

All while keeping everything on time and organized!

My job is also to think about and plan for what hasn’t been thought of.

To think about both the bigger picture and the details and all the players involved.

I always get asked, “How does planning destination weddings work when you don’t live there?”

The truth is that it takes knowledge and experience. It takes relationships and networks. And it takes flexibility.

Because as with all weddings, because you’re working with real people and because you can’t control everything, it never goes quite as you planned.

Yes, even for a planner, planning never goes quite to plan.

Certain things take longer or you run into hurdles. Personalities clash. Weather is always tricky and unpredictable. Roads close. Cell phones lose coverage. Life decides to interfere.

And while we had our share of craziness and challenges, come our wedding day, it was perfect.

And I NEVER use the word perfect because it doesn’t really exist to me. But, it was like everything magically came together in this magic place.

We had the perfect team, the perfect weather…and it was so much fun!

When you combine a group of amazing artists who are fantastic at what they do, it’s magical. You can create magical things and that’s what we did.

Yesterday our labor of love hit newsstands and we’re on the cover of the Destination i do magazine!
