March Wedding Madness

Are you a college basketball fan? I’m not particularly, but since it happens around a few yearly celebrations, I’m always aware of it.  And if I’m being honest, I like the name March Madness.  It’s exciting and a bit crazy.  It’s the unknown where anything can happen.  There are highs and lows, upsets and celebrations.

As a good friend of mine always shouts, “It’s the madness!”

This madness is also very close to what you’re probably feeling when it comes to planning your wedding.  No matter where you are in the process, you’ve probably already had some highs and some lows already.  You’ve felt excited and a bit crazy.  You’re totally unsure of what will happen.  But, you can’t wait.  You have so much to do.  But, you don’t know what to do.  You’ve been frustrated, super duper happy, and worried.  You perhaps feel a bit mad.

I get a ton of questions from brides and grooms asking me all sorts of wedding planning questions from budgets to seating charts to cakes.  But, I also hear about and get questions about situations.  Whether how they are feeling or what is happening is normal.  Whether they’re going crazy or if it’s to be expected.

So, first off, if you’re feeling a bit mad, what you’re feeling is totally normal.  No matter the type of wedding you’re having or where you’re having it, the wedding madness is normal.  Everyone experiences it, myself included.  Even though I had a ton of experience and knew exactly what to expect when I was planning my wedding, I felt a bit mad too.

There is a lot of emotion wrapped up in this big celebration and as such, everything you do and all your decisions are emotionally charged.  It can be hard to think through everything.  It can be hard to focus.  And it can be hard to find the time to do it all.
