On the 10th Day of Joy, Come Home

Welcome back to the 12 Days of Joy!  Can you believe that we’re almost at the end?  I’m totally enjoying this joy ride (haha) we’ve been on and I don’t want to get off.  I bet you don’t either, so let’s ride this one together all the way to the end.

If you’re new to our little party, welcome!  We’re celebrating the 12 Days of Joy with one small joy every day until Christmas.  These small joys are little, but make a big difference in your mood, your day and your life.  And the bonus?  They make a difference in other’s lives too like your partner, your kids, your friends, family and everyone you meet.

Today is our 10th Day of Joy and I’m excited about this one, so let’s do this!

As Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz said, “There’s no place like home”.  There truly is no place like home.  Home is where you feel, well, at home. Home is where you can be you.

Hawaii is home for me.  Bet you didn’t know that did you?  I was born and raised in Hawaii.  Yes, I know, rough life.  I know I had it good and I appreciate that.  I have a great family, parents who I look up to and I got to grow up in place that was warm, loving and friendly.  Hawaii is an amazing place to grow up.

But beyond that, Hawaii is home for me. Which means the people, the food, and the place not only brings back memories, but it’s so easy being here.  Coming home is easy because it’s familiar and comforting.  And it’s happy.  It’s where my family is, where friends live and let’s face it, not a bad place to travel to.

So, what’s home for you?  It doesn’t have to be where your family is or where you grew up.  Home is where ever you can be you.   So, that’s where you live right now.  Or maybe that’s your hometown.  Or maybe that’s a place you lived at one point in your life.  Think about what home is for you and one thing about it that you love.  If there is a physical item that reminds you of home, get it, buy it or do it.  Go and eat that dish that reminds you of home.  Pull out and look at the photos that remind you of home.  Go to that market that reminds you of home.  Or just be in your home and soak up.  It will bring a smile to your face and consequent joy.

Just 2 more days left, so make sure you come back for our last 2 days of joy!
