The joy of softness

Ok, so this one might be a bit of a head scratcher for you. But, bear with me, I’ll explain.
I’ve always had a fondness for soft things. When I was little I had this terry cloth towel that went with me everywhere. It was my security blanket, my lovey. But, I loved it because it was so soft. As I got older I no longer had the security blanket, but I still really liked soft things. This applies to T-shirts (soft ones are the best!), or sheets or stuffed animals or anything really that you touch.
If I have an option between two things, I’m going for the soft one. If I touch something in a store and it’s soft, I almost always want to buy it even if I have no use for it.
Soft things for me are not just a tactile thing, but a pleasure thing. Soft = happy for me. Maybe it has to do with my security blanket, but honestly, I think it just makes me happy. Soft things are comforting. They feel good and in turn, they make me feel good.
So for today’s little joy, think about what brings you pleasure. It doesn’t have to be something tactile like a soft shirt. Maybe it’s anything Harry Potter related. Or this one piece of jewelry you love. Or maybe it’s your super awesome car. It can be silly or weird. It’s your thing, so don’t worry about anyone else. Think about that item you can’t help but love and get all up in it. Go hug it, lie on it, hold it, look at it. And I bet you’ll get a little smile on your face.
Tomorrow’s our 10th Day of Joy! Don’t forget to come back and soak up all the joyous goodness. See you then!
