On the 7th Day of Joy, Shake Your Tail Feather

It’s the week of Christmas, which means we’ve only got a few more days of joy left.  If you’re new to our blog or to the 12 Days of Joy, we’re sharing one small joy every day until Christmas.  The goal?  To bring some joy into your life and into the lives of those around you.

While we’re only celebrating 12 Days of Joy, I hope you’ll utilize these small joys in your life all year.  Because they really can make a difference.  And who couldn’t use more joy?

If you’re a little behind don’t worry!  Check out the last 6 posts to get all of the goodies.  And now, on to today’s 7th Day of Joy.

On the 7th Day of Joy, Mango Muse Events shared with me…

The joy of music

I have to admit that I’m totally not a music girl.  What I mean is while I like music, I don’t know artists or song titles.  I don’t know what’s #1 right now or what is super hot in the clubs.  I don’t go to concerts every weekend and I have no idea what most lyrics are.  Basically, I’m not music savvy at all.

But, I love music.  I was one of those teenagers who loved school dances.  It wasn’t about slow dancing with boys for me, but just dancing.  I danced until my feet hurt and got blisters.  It was so much fun.  You get to rock out to music, jump around and just let lose.  Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It” is still one of my favorite songs.  Whenever it comes on, I go nuts.

But beyond dancing, music also transports you.  If it’s an older song, there is nostalgia to it and you remember a past time in your life.  If it’s a new song, maybe it gets you excited.  Music lets you sing (even if you’re terrible) and it lets you dance (even if you can’t dance).  You can jam it out and feel so elated afterward.

I also have a personal love of Christmas music.  I know, I know, you’re probably rolling your eyes right now, but I love it.  It’s such happy music to my ears.  I get immensely excited when it starts playing on the radio at Thanksgiving.

So, what’s your happy music?  What song or songs or type of music makes you dance or sing?  Let’s get you shaking your tail feather even if it’s just in the shower or in your car seat.  Belt out your favorite ballad or dance it out to that Backstreet Boys song you always loved.  Find your happy song and go to town.  Then enjoy that happy feeling that you now have.

You know what’s coming tomorrow, right?!  The 8th Day of Joy and you don’t want to miss it!

And if you have any friends who could a little more joy in their lives, please share the joy (and this post)!
