Are you a big stress ball right now?
I’ve been observing and talking to a lot of people who are feeling really stressed out. This goes beyond the normal holiday stress which can creep into your life this time of year. And this goes beyond wedding planning. With all the fear, anxiety and anger from the election, shootings, and disasters (natural and otherwise), I think everyone is feeling a bit on edge.
And you can feel it in the air. There is a tension that you can’t ignore. And it’s making people stressed, upset and even sad. I don’t blame anyone for feeling this way. It’s a crazy time right now and how you feel is how you feel. You have to acknowledge it and be in it before you can move forward.
So, here’s the thing. I’m all about joy here at Mango Muse Events and that applies not just to wedding planning and your wedding, but your life. So, this year in our 12 Days of Joy, let’s bring some joy to your life.
You know that song from The Sound of Music, “My Favorite Things”?
“When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad…I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad…”
So, we’re going to turn up the joy factor by remembering your favorite things. It’s a small thing, but small joys make a difference, not just in your life but your partner’s life, your family’s lives, your friend’s lives and even your total stranger’s life.
Every day from now until Christmas in our 12 Days of Joy, I’m going to share one of my favorite things. You’ll get to know a bit more about me, but it will also get you to think about your favorite things. And when you think about your favorite things doesn’t it always bring forth a smile?
So, let’s get this party started!
On the 1st Day of Joy, Mango Muse Events shared with me…
the joy of movies
I love movies (I also love TV). They’re a fun outing with friends in a dark theater with popcorn. Or they’re a fun night in on the couch with a blanket. They cheer you up when you’re sick at home and they take you on an adventure. No matter what kind of movie you like, it’s fun to see these characters on their journey.
I personally love Ferris Buehler’s Day Off, it always makes me smile. The parades, art museum, and antics are so much fun. Harry Potter movies are super comforting to me for some reason. And when it comes to Christmas movies, Home Alone is still hilarious, Love Actually is feel good and It’s a Beautiful Life is always a classic.

So, go to your happy place with your favorite movie. Maybe that’s just thinking about a favorite scene or watching a movie that always makes you laugh. Take a moment today and think about (or go watch) one of your favorite movies and let it bring you some joy.
What’s your favorite movie? Share it with us in a comment below. And then share this post with your friends! Because everyone could use more joy in their life.
Don’t forget to come back for all 12 Days of Joy!
