Bridal dress designers just hit the runway in NYC and showcased their new, fresh fall 2017 collections. To make things easy and not overwhelming, I’ve picked out the 40 best wedding dresses from bridal fashion week.
There were definitely some themes flowing through the collections and I’ve grouped the wedding dresses into the most exciting categories and trends. And then picked the best of the best just for you! So, to kick off our runway show, we’re going to start with the best wedding dresses with sleeves.
Best Wedding Dresses with Sleeves
Strapless wedding dresses are popular, but I love a good dress with sleeves. And with the fall season comes brisk weather, so wearing a dress with sleeves is a perfect compliment. Just check out these beauties…
The top on this short sleeve Marchesa is beautiful all on its own, but along with the high-low skirt, it’s extra special. And look at those shoes! Super duper cute.
This next Marchesa wedding dress has floral garden written all over it. The applique, fluttery sleeves, and light blush color are divine along with the great deep v neckline.
I love the details on this Naeem Khan wedding dress. It has the shape of a shirt dress which is fun, but the high collar and intricate details take it to the next level.
This leafy sheer top paired with the flowing skirt from Christos Costarellos would be great for a winter destination wedding. I love how the applique overflows onto the top of the skirt making it feel so natural.
Lace will always be a classic, but this long sleeve wedding dress by Christos Costarellos has some extra fun details. I love the small scalloped edging along the neckline and the buttons add great texture.
Best Wedding Dresses with a Coverup
Now, we can’t think of fall and winter and not think of jackets. One of the bridal trends seen on the runway were fun coverups which add just a bit more punch to your wedding dress. Here are some of the best wedding dresses with capes, shawls, and coverups.
This wedding dress by Oscar de la Renta is clean and simple, but with this floral sheer cape is awesome sauce. I think she’s ready to fight wedding crime.
The sparkle plus feathers make this Monique Lhuillier wedding dress a stunner. But, with the added matching coverup it completes the look.
Isn’t this dress and shaggy bolero perfect for a winter wedding? I love this Temperley London wedding dress with the lace, belt, and furry coverup. Even her hair totally works for me.
Here’s another wedding dress from Temperley London which I think is perfect for a winter wedding. The cut on top is lovely along with the pleats and the shimmery fabric. Paired with this soft looking jacket-shawl, you’re ready for the snow.
Best Sleek Wedding Dresses
The last wedding dress was what I like to call in the sleek family. And it had some sisters that hit the runway and were simply beautiful. Here are the best wedding dresses that had a clean, sleek and more modern feel to them.
I feel like Carolina Herrara is the queen of classy sleek and this wedding dress is no exception. It’s simple and beautiful with a great asymmetrical neckline that gives it something special.
This Gala by Galia Lahav wedding dress is both totally sleek and yet funky. And dare I say, a little boho too. That combo is hard to do, but I dig it.
Pleats! Loving the pleat details on this Victor & Rolf wedding dress. It’s totally simple, but the rounded neckline with the slightly flared skirt is just so pulled together.
Sheer illusion tops are always fun and I love this combo with the sheath fitted bottom. The applique and neckline is great on this Sachin and Babi wedding dress.
Satin isn’t for everyone, but this shimmering beauty will make you love it. The romantic flutter sleeves with the nice lines of this Sachin and Babi dress are pretty perfect.
Best Off the Shoulder Wedding Dresses
Another trend seen on the runway were off the shoulder dresses. Similar to what we’ve been seeing in fashion for the last few months, off the shoulder dresses were seen in full force. Here are some of the best wedding dresses with an off the shoulder look.
This lace off the shoulder wedding dress by Reem Acra is easy and romantic. I like how the sleeves have a little volume and the look is effortless.
What I like about Monique Lhuillier’s version of the off the shoulder wedding dress is that there are also straps! So you can have the off the shoulder look without being totally off the shoulder. The sheer look also totally works.
Now this off the shoulder dress by Amsale Christos is also one with straps, but what I love about it are the lines. The angles created by the straps and over the arms are so eye-catching.
Another off the shoulder wedding dress with straps, this Amsale sheath dress keeps it simple. But, the neckline and detail at the top are just what you’re looking for.
This off the shoulder wedding dress by Christos Costarellos has got a romanticly boho vibe. The added volume at the bodice and at the knees make this dress a fun one. And those earrings? Awesome.
Best Architectural Wedding Dresses
A cousin to the sleek dresses, architectural dresses are super fun. They have angles and shapes structure. Here are some of the best wedding dresses with an architectural vibe.
This Carolina Herrera wedding dress is architectural at it’s best. From the petal bodice to the lines to the full skirt, this dress is a beauty.
Lela Rose brings architectural to the back of the wedding dress. The bow like top with the fanned out bottom and those tiny pearls are just amazing.
This Oscar de la Renta is another awesome wedding dress back. I love how the back dips with those long straps and billows out with these great angles.
Best Ethereal Wedding Dresses
There were quite a few wedding dresses that hit the runway with an ethereal look and feel to them. Light, airy and breezy, these dresses make you feel like you could fly. Here are the best wedding dresses with an ethereal vibe.
This Sachin and Babi wedding dress just flutters. It reminds me of a butterfly with the fabric and the ruffles. The shimmer to the fabric also really adds to the ethereal effect.
This almost lace-like wedding dress by Reem Acra is totally ethereal. With the sheer top and floating skirt, I think she really looks like an angel.
This Monique Lhuillier wedding dress is ruffle city and I love it! The sleeves and that skirt are so much fun. But, the best part is the color. This taupe wedding dress is awesome.
Like the wedding dress before it, this Reem Acra dress’s flowing layers are awesome, but the color is what gets me. This off-white champagne color is great. She’s like a grown-up ballerina.
You don’t usually think of a wedding dress with stripes, but this Sachin and Babi dress may change your mind. The cut of the bodice with the sheer striped bottom is both ethereal and lots of fun.
Another Sachin and Babi wedding dress, this one screams winter to me. The print just shines. There is almost an old-world fairytale vibe to it that I just dig.
Best Wedding Outfits with Pants
If you’ve been noticing, there are way more options now for the non-traditional bride and one such option are pants. While not for everyone, pants can look so chic for your wedding day. Here are some of the best wedding outfits with pants.
This sweet 2 piece outfit by Lela Rose has so much going for it. The ankle length makes is fun and the sheer top makes it perfect for an indoor or outdoor wedding. I also think the shoes this model is wearing is rockin.
This jumpsuit by Gala by Galia Lahav is kind of amazing. The beading detail is beautiful and I love the halter neckline.
This elegant pantsuit by Kaviar Gauche is lovely. It’s totally simple, but the cut and the peekaboo arms are so much fun.
Your wedding outfit doesn’t have to be all one fabric, you can mix and match! And that’s what I love about this Kaviar Gauche 2 piece. Detailed on top, clean on the bottom.
Best Non-traditional Wedding Dresses
As I said before, pants aren’t for everyone, but if you’re non-traditional, but still want a dress I’ve got some great options for you. Here are the best wedding dresses for the non-traditional bride from bridal fashion week.
This graphic wedding dress by Naeem Khan is totally non-traditional, but beautiful! The detailing in those swirls are pretty amazing.
This Vera Wang wedding dress is just plain awesome. I love the mixed-materials in this wedding dress from the necklace top to the corset middle to the frayed layers in the skirt. As pictured, it’s perfect for a masquerade or a wedding with some old world glamour.
On a totally different end, this non-traditional wedding dress by Houghton is so darn pretty. The pink color and the beading with the casual slip dress style is perfect for the girl who wants easy with a little sexy thrown in.
Another Vera Wang wedding dress, this one uses black and gunmetal beading. I love the contrast it gives not only with the color but the hard shape against the soft delicate top.
Looking for a short wedding dress? This Victor & Rolf floral dress is cute and fun. It also has a little bit of snowflake feeling going on which would be great for an indoor winter wedding.
Best Lace Wedding Dresses
So, last but not least, I wanted to share some lace dresses. Now, lace dresses are not new and they’ll be around forever, but I thought these two were particularly noteworthy. Here are the best lace wedding dresses from bridal fashion week.
Look at the beauty of this lace wedding dress by Vera Wang. I think the halter cut is fun, but if you just look at the lace, it’s gorgeous. The big patterns and swoops are almost regal.
Now this Marchesa lace wedding dress is stunning. I love how the lace is strategically placed to create a pattern that is super flattering. The model looks tall and lean and while she probably is, I think the lace is also making her look great. We could all look a little taller and leaner, am I right?
