Wedding Wednesdays Q&A: Picking Wedding Colors

Wedding Wednesdays Q&A by Jamie Chang Destination Wedding Planner of Mango Muse Events

Is it Wednesday already?  Yup and although it’s only the middle of the week, we’ve got your favorite, Wedding Wednesdays Q&A!  This week we’re talking about wedding colors:  I’m excited about designing my wedding and everything I read tells me that I need to pick some wedding colors.  But, what if I don’t want to?  Do I really have to stick with only certain colors?

You’re right, most books and blogs out there do tell you that you need to pick some colors and usually they try to keep you within a few colors.  This mainly is so that you narrow down the options and not only keep everything color coordinated, but to some degree, also make it easier on yourself.  But, let’s be honest, picking certain colors does limit you and that isn’t right for everyone.  Not everyone wants blush and mint green or purple and white or gold and black.  So, no, you absolutely do not have to stick with certain colors!  Choose colors that make you happy, whatever those colors may be.  Go rainbow if you want!

What is considered beautiful or pleasing varies by person (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?) and so does style, so I’m not going to tell you what you should do here because it just might not be right for you.  However, the one recommendation I would have is just to make sure the colors you pick evoke the feelings you want to create in your wedding whether that is lighthearted or moody or romantic or quirky.  Certain colors lend themselves to creating those feelings and atmosphere, so just be aware of that as you start designing.  And have fun!
