I love traveling and I know this is nothing new to our readers who are here all the time, but for you new members to our little family, I LOVE to travel. As such, I’m always on the search for a good deal because who doesn’t want to win at the gambling game that is buying airline flights? While you can get the best deals if your dates are flexible, for destination weddings your dates are set and everyone will most likely be flying out at the same time. However, there are airline discounts out there that you can take advantage of! Some airlines will offer discounts to groups, like say, the group of guests coming to your wedding. So, I’ve compiled a list for you to check out for your destination wedding planning.
Alaska offers 2 options to make your lives easier. Option 1 gives you a discount off the lowest available fare at the time of booking for groups of 20 or more traveling from a variety of departure cities to one destination. Option 2 gives you a discounted rate for groups of 10 or more people traveling on the same flights and dates. As a bonus, after enough bookings are made (40 for option 1, 30 for option 2), you’ll get a credit for one round trip flight.
Hawaiian has a program called Wedding Wings which offers 10% off fares for the couple and 5% off guest fares to Hawaii. A nice bonus is if 25 guests book with your discount code, then you can get upgraded to first class.
Cape Air offers discounts to your guests with flexibility on dates. They give you group discounts without having to travel as a group. This is a great airline to use on the East coast and within the Caribbean.
Virgin America offers a deal similar to Alaska with a discounted fare for people either traveling together or traveling separately.
Delta offers a deal on vacation packages (flight and hotel or flight and ground transportation). Once you book your vacation package, you’ll get a promo code to give your guests. They also offer a discounted rate on airfare only for groups of 10 or more who have at least one common flight segment.
The following airlines all have the same offer which is a reduced fare for groups of 10 or more people traveling together on the same flight to the same destination. The details of each vary a bit in terms of deposits (some require it, some don’t) and how long you have to book and give names, but they are all generally the same. This usually doesn’t work well for most weddings since your guests are coming from all over the place, but if you happen to have a group with the same dates, this can be beneficial.
Now keep in mind that you should do your research and make sure the offered discounted rate is actually better than what you can get online or through a travel agent before you agree or purchase anything. There are instances were it isn’t necessarily more cost effective. But, if you do your research, you’ll figure out what the best option is for you and your situation. And remember that discounts and plans change all the time, so double check that the airline still carries this discount before you bank on it.
