Live Animals at a Wedding

Weddings have their usual items that everyone expects, things like a ceremony, drinks, music, and flowers.  But, live animals at a wedding? Those are much less common.  While there are the Indian weddings with elephants or horses or the occasional dog ring bearer or a dove release at the ceremony, live animals at a wedding don’t usually make it onto your table.

At the first wedding I ever planned, I had live fish centerpieces.  It was such a fun idea in theory (and totally represented the couple), but in practice, it was much harder to execute.  Keeping those fish alive was no small feat and I prayed that they’d survive through dinner (because no one wants to look at a dead fish while eating).  Thankfully they all survived, but if you’re considering live animals at a wedding, just make sure you think it through.  They are certainly fun and different, but may make your life a little harder.
