2015 Oscars Wedding Inspiration
This past Sunday was the biggest awards show of the year, the Oscars and as such the stars came out shining. There is always such great inspiration, not just from the movies themselves, but from the actors on the red carpet. To make it easy for you, we’ve got our top 2015 Oscars wedding inspiration picks for your wedding fashion, beauty and design. There were lots of fun takeaways this year, so let’s get started!
First up is Marion Cotillard looking easy breezy in a white dotted Dior Haute Couture gown. This one was simple in the front and party in the back. You can’t see the back here, but it gathered to form a fun cape/train. Now the lesson here is that dots can be modern and sophisticated, but still lots of fun. Don’t be afraid of dots in your wedding attire or design.
Sienna Miller always surprises me because she never wears anything expected, and she is eye catching in this Oscar de la Renta gown. The navy black color is fun and the bows and cutouts are really interesting pieces. The takeaway here is not to be afraid of combining different textures and details. Unexpected awesomeness can come from pairing things in new ways especially for your wedding decor.
Dakota Johnson is red hot in this one-shouldered Saint Laurent dress. The asymmetry is lovely and that metallic strap takes everything up a notch. Not everything has to be exactly square, rectangular or round at your wedding. Play with asymmetrical lines, I think you’ll be surprised by how much you like it. And don’t forget about red, it is the color of love.
Naomi Watts totally shined in this Armani Privé gown. The look was modern, but casual, elegant, but fun. There were so many things going on with this look, but it was harmonious and the end result was really something special. Not only is the dress itself great inspiration for your wedding design, but take to heart the mixing of different things you like and the different parts of you and work those together to be harmonious (and of course if you need help with this, I’m your gal).
Kerry Washington is all elegance in this champagne Miu Miu number. The shape is great on her and super flattering, but what I love the most is the neutral on neutral motif. Sometimes the best design is all about texture and neutrals are great for that. You don’t always need a pop of color or a bold contrast, don’t forget that neutrals with great texture are super elegant.
Margot Robbie looks amazing in this black Saint Laurent dress and while I really like the dress with it’s sheer sleeves and beautiful draped neck, it’s the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace that I’m in love with. For me the necklace totally makes this look and proves that what really pulls a look together are the details.
Lupita Nyong’o is s style star and is stunning in this Calvin Klein white gown. The pearls upon pearls are just gorgeous and create not just great texture, but a pattern in and of itself. The classic pearls also amazingly have a very natural feel like shells or flower leis. Now obviously this dress could work as wedding dress (especially for a beach/tropical destination wedding), but I think the other takeaway is that wedding design can be both elegant and natural.
If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you know I’m a big fan of Emma Stone. She’s a risk taker and she never disappoints and she certainly doesn’t in this Elie Saab gown. Everything about this is unexpected, but it all works and is amazingly beautiful. And look at her hair! What a great side swept look that you can totally copy for your wedding. Winner all around in my book.
