Wedding Wednesdays Q&A: Wedding Dress Drama
Are you excited? You should be! It’s Wedding Wednesdays Q&A, the place to be for all of your wedding planning needs. So let’s dive right in! This week we’re talking about the wedding dress: My wedding is 3 months away and I just went in for my first fitting. I put on my dress and it looks horrible on me (I lost some weight) and it just feels wrong. I’m totally freaking out because I don’t understand how this happened. I loved my wedding dress when I initially bought it. So, I started looking at dresses again and found something else I like, but don’t know what to do. I don’t really have the money to buy another wedding dress and it feels wasteful since I have one already, but I don’t really want to wear a dress a don’t like. Help!
First off, I’m so sorry to hear about your wedding dress. It’s not a situation any bride wants to be in, but it does happen from time to time, so you are not alone. Sometimes you find a wedding dress you like and either your body changes or it wasn’t the exact right style for you. There is usually quite a large period of time between when you order a dress and when it arrives so sometimes when you try it on again it no longer works. You want to love your dress and feel beautiful in it, so don’t settle!
Here is what you do: You’ve already taken step one which is to find a new wedding dress you like, so that is great. What you need to do now is sell your current dress. There are a bunch of websites that sell new and used dresses like Once Wed and Pre-Owned Wedding Dresses where you can sell your wedding dress to another bride who it could be the perfect fit for. You might not be able to get the full amount for the dress, but you’ll still come away with some of the cost covered. You won’t be wasteful, you’ll get some money back and you’ll be able to wear a wedding dress you love. Now that is the trifecta, right? Don’t stress, it will all work out. Things happen for a reason, so this is your chance to end up with a wedding dress you are in love with, just like your fiancé.
