2013 Golden Globes Wedding Inspiration
I love awards season because it’s fun to see the acknowledgement of great art. You may be rolling your eyes right now, but really despite all the hoo haw of hollywood, there is a lot of amazing artistry that happens from music to acting to costume creation and writing (and so much more). I enjoy both the celebration of that art and also the fun red carpet fashion. I find that the red carpet fashion is great inspiration for wedding and event attire, jewelry, and hair and makeup. It’s a formal occasion so it’s fun to take cues from what the celebrities are wearing for your upcoming wedding or event. Here are our Golden Globe wedding inspiration picks along with some trends we spotted.
The first trend we’re loving on the red carpet were classic silhouettes with a flair in fun punchy colors. Claire Danes looks awesome in this berry colored Versace with its subtle wrap quality (and on a side note, yay for Homeland!). The v neck and simple, but flattering lines are great and a good idea for a bride or her bridesmaids.
Marion Cotillard rocks this orange Dior strapless number. I think the asymmetry is fun and the draping with the peekaboo belt is a nice surprise. Consider some asymmetry with your wedding attire or your decor and bringing in some bright colors like this to your wedding will really light up the space.
This next trend we’re loving is the sheer layering effect. It’s oh so elegant. Kerry Washington is dressy, but fun and hip in this Miu Miu dress. This is a lovely option for a bride looking to wear something a bit different that is also a little sexy. And if you don’t want the normal curled updo, this is a great way to go (her makeup is also quite lovely as well).
It’s hard to tell, but this lace Givenchy dress Amanda Seyfried is wearing has layers of sheerness that accentuate her body in all the right places. I can totally see a dress like this on a more boho bride, but I can also imagine it in your wedding design. It could take the form of draping, table linens or decor details.
The last trend we saw (and loved) were these bold gold accents. Kate Hudson’s Alexander McQueen black dress is beautiful, but the gold detailing is what makes it. Black and gold are nothing new, but if you use it in interesting ways, it can be striking. Think about using it in your table design or wedding stationery.
Last, but not least, Michelle Dockery shines in this Alexander Vauthier. Once again the white dress is figure flattering, but the intricate gold top makes it stunning. The intricate gold detailing would be a great addition to your wedding design or wedding attire. And don’t you love her hair? This is a beautiful and classic style for any short hair girls.
