Holiday Party Centerpiece Idea

Are you planning a holiday party and unsure of what to do for your centerpieces?  I recently helped the Honolulu Museum of Art docents with the design for their annual holiday party and wanted to share this fun holiday party centerpiece idea with you.  It’s easy to do and super cute!

Everyone has a budget and this group of course had one as well.  They wanted to keep the cost for the decor down, so we made their dessert double as their holiday party centerpieces.  They were interested in cupcakes, but I wanted to make sure that they didn’t look childish (which cupcakes tend to do) and they needed to be sophisticated and artful given the group.

I came up with the idea to create a Christmas tree on top of the cupcake and worked with Candies Cupcakes to create the design.  The texture and color turned out great and everything was edible which was a plus.  I then needed a nice way to present it.  I don’t know about you, but I’m so tired of tiered cupcake displays, so instead I used upside down champagne and wine glasses as a cupcake pedestals.  We placed pieces of silver and white garland beneath the glasses and wove green ferns we collected from gardens between the glasses.

The final centerpiece ended up looking like a forest of trees and made quite a statement while being really budget friendly.  The group was really pleased which is high praise from a group that knows art and design.  This is a holiday party centerpiece idea that you can totally do for your holiday party too!  Check out some of the fun photos below.

In these last two photos, you can see a close up of the cupcake Christmas tree which made up of an upside down sugar cone covered in chocolate and rock candy. Ingenious!

Just leave it up to Jamie! This was ingenious and lovely and the perfect solution-having both dessert and tasteful centeripiece in one. We were truly wow-ed. Thank you, Jamie.
