I know it is still spring, but I feel like summer has arrived! It’s finally getting warm and sunny and of course for me, the wedding season is getting in full swing!
For all you couples getting married in the next few months, I hope your wedding planning has been going well and if not, now is the time to hire a wedding planner to help you pull together all the final details and make sure your day flows smoothly. While I always think it is better to hire a wedding planner as early as possible in the process so that they can help you with all aspects of your wedding, it is never too late to get help whether you are 1 month away or 6 months away from your wedding date. I have never had a client who wished they had done it on their own, but I have unfortunately met lots of married couples who wished they did hire a professional.
For couples who have not been married before (which is most of you out there), it is understandable that you just don’t know what goes into a wedding. It can be hard to understand why you would want help and how that really works, but trust me when I say that it makes a world of difference. When I meet with potential clients, I sometimes explain to them that when they hire a wedding planner, it is like having your own personal quarterback. Someone who is managing your team and whose goal is to make sure you have a fantastic day. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not a huge sports person (but my husband is, so I feel like I get subconsciously influenced), but I think the analogy works.
A wedding planner is there to plan and execute the wedding day with the main focus being you, not the venue or the catering or the flowers. All of that matters, but we care about you first and foremost. Wedding planners can see the overall picture and we have the couple’s best interests at heart. If you are on the fence about hiring a wedding planner or just don’t know much about it, take a look at my Wedding Planner Series. It is a series of 5 blog posts that I wrote to help couples understand and give them a little more insight into what we do.
If you are currently feeling overwhelmed or just don’t want to feel stressed down the road, consider hiring a professional. It is honestly the best advice I can give and I’m not saying it because I’m a wedding planner. I was a bride recently too and when I got married, even I hired a wedding planner because I understand the value and peace of mind that comes with having one. It will allow you to shift the responsibility of the planning off your shoulders and give you time to kick back and enjoy both your engagement and your wedding day. And let’s face it, in the end, enjoying that special time is the most important thing.
