Hunger Games and Mad Men Party Ideas

Are you Hungry for the Games?  Or Mad for some Men?

Being the big TV and movie lover that I am, I have to share my excitement over The Hunger Games movie coming out today and the new Mad Men season starting on Sunday.   I love books and the Hunger Games series was an interesting read because it was less about the romance and more about the world they live in and how we treat one another.  Movies are rarely as good as their book counterparts, but I am excited to see it come to life nonetheless.

I started watching Mad Men when it first came out because I was intrigued by the advertising part of the series, but ended up totally falling for the characters.  They are so complex (as normal human beings are) and it was so interesting when you started to peel away the layers.  The Hunger Games and Mad Men are two totally different vibes, but I can’t wait to indulge in the fantasy of both.   To get you as excited as I am, I’ve put together a little Hunger Games and some Mad Men party ideas for the premiere party you are throwing, whether it be just in your head or in real life.

Let’s start with the Hunger Games, enter the world of Panem…

Dress up in the humble attire of the districts or the flamboyant style of the capitol (this is your chance to wear some wigs and go crazy with the makeup!).

And what is a party without some food…

How about some bread?  Maybe some Peeta (or pita) bread?

And of course, you need some cookies as well.

Lamb stew and different types of bread from the districts are a must for your Hunger Games party.

Basil goat cheese is an easy appetizer or salad.

And last but not least, you need some berries to end the meal.  Just make sure they aren’t the lethal kind!

Now we’re going  back in time to the 1960’s and Mad Men…

And we have to start you off with a drink of course.

And then change into something more fitting…

Now that you are all dressed up, how about we set the mood?  Pick out some mid-century modern period pieces or inspired fabrics and prints.

Now sit back, kick your feet up, relax and have a cocktail or two…
