Oscar Wedding Inspiration

The Oscars are the epitome of Hollywood glamour, where the stars come out to win awards and strut their stuff.  There is always inspiration to be taken from the red carpet for your wedding or event and the Oscars are the creme de la creme when it comes to inspiration.  Below are some of my favorites picks for Oscar wedding inspiration from the red carpet.

First up are the black dresses which are always classic and elegant.  Angelina Jolie’s dress was super sexy because of the high slit, but also very architectural.  It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it has some really interesting angles which gave the dress great shape.  If you want to keep your design more modern, but still want interest, this is a great way to go.

The brocade on Jessica Chastain’s dress was just regal.  Super elegant with a slight Asian old world feel to it. This is great Oscar wedding inspiration for your wedding design (think linens and details), but the cut and style of the dress is also very flattering great for a bride or bridesmaids dresses.

Now for the silver whites which sparkle and shine.  Octavia Spencer’s beautifully cinched gown fit her perfectly.  I like that there are sleeves whereas a lot of gowns tend to be strapless.  It shows off her shape and while I’m not really a big bling kind of girl, this was gorgeous.  And she won!  The moral of the story?  Work with your body shape and don’t be afraid to show it off and you’ll be a winner too.

Mila Jovovich is just plain beautiful, but this dress is awesome.  The one shoulder is unique because it curves slightly over.  It creates a nice line and once again, the dress just shimmers.  All great Oscar wedding inspiration.  And I also have to comment that I love her hair.  Short hair tends to get a bad rap, but I think this style is sexy and sophisticated.  If you have short hair you can totally rock this style for your wedding.

And last but not least, you always need a pop of color.  This emerald green dress on Viola Davis is amazing. I like the v-cut bust line and the asymmetrical bottom.  I also like the use of two different fabrics to create structure on top and flow on the bottom.  It’s pretty darn awesome.  I’d personally love a dress in this color.  I’m not sure I could rock it the way Viola does, but it would be fun to try.  Would you wear a colored dress for your wedding?
