Hello and welcome to Part 4 of the wedding planner series!
Now that you have a good background on what a wedding planner is, what they do and the difference between wedding planners, today we are going to get into perhaps the most important question, why would you hire a wedding planner?
Every couple is different and when you start planning your wedding every couple handles the process a little bit differently.
There are some who know exactly what they want and others who have no clue.
Some are really organized. Some are overwhelmed and stressed out right from the beginning. And some have too many family and friend “planners” weighing in.
Every situation is different, but everyone can use a wedding planner.
It’s just a matter of whether you want one or not.
Choosing to hire a wedding planner can be a very personal and emotional decision. You are entrusting, in most cases, a relative stranger with the details and more importantly, the people who matter most to you.
So, why would you hire a wedding planner?
There many answers to this, but the main one is because you want to be able to enjoy your wedding day.
It is only one day of your life, but it’s an important one.
It’s a day for you to make memories not only for yourself but for your guests.
You can’t be free and truly enjoy your day if you have to worry about the vendors, the guests and all the problems that arise.
Many couples don’t hire a wedding planner and end up passing the responsibility off to a bridesmaid or a sister or a mother.
While the couple may not have to worry about the day, one of their guests now does. With everything that went into the planning of this day, wouldn’t you want your guests to be able to enjoy it?
Hiring a wedding planner is the equivalent to lifting a job off your shoulders.
In Part 2 of the series, I mentioned that wedding planning is like another job and I described what a wedding planner does. If you don’t hire a wedding planner, all of those responsibilities fall to you or to whoever is helping you.
You would hire a wedding planner so that you don’t have to spend as much time or effort on the planning and can spend more on enjoying your engagement.
Lastly, you are hiring a wedding planner for their expertise.
For most couples this is their first time getting married and the wedding world is a new and foreign place.
Wedding planners are guides who help you to navigate the terrain. They are also bodyguards who protect you from things or people that might do you harm.
Wedding planners provide a service, not a product and sometimes that can be hard for couples to justify.
Since there isn’t a physical takeaway, sometimes the value is not as appreciated. However, I can promise you that if you hire one, you’ll be thankful that you did.
And if you don’t, you’ll wish you had in the end.
You are investing in peace of mind and the time to enjoy the moment and that is priceless.
