I love Paris – the culture, the art, the food. There really is a certain je ne sais quoi about the city. C and I had decided a while ago that if and when we got married that it would be a destination wedding. Somewhere different from where we live (California) and where we are from (Hawaii). After we got engaged, we decided that a Paris destination wedding was the ticket. We were definitely breaking the mold with our families and friends, but it felt right.
We recently took a trip to the gorgeous City of Light to do some venue scouting for our Paris destination wedding. We wanted to be able to really see and experience our reception venue because it’s just not the same in photos. We also wanted to be able to meet with our wedding planner and a few different vendors. Did you hear me say wedding planner? Yes, you did! Being a wedding planner myself, I understand the value of a wedding planner and made sure I hired one so that I could enjoy my wedding day. Heather from Rendezvous in Paris is great and we had a fantastic trip!
We really want to create an experience for our guests, not just a wedding and by the end of the trip, we could really start to visualize all of it, which was just so exciting. Below are some photos from the trip and some venues we were considering. First up is Maison Blanche – modern, new French cuisine and a fantastic view.
I really dug these colored booths and thought we could do something fun with them.
Next up, is the very french and historic Hotel Crillon with ornate banquet rooms and once again fantastic views. This venue was great for it’s more traditional and ornate French style.
I love these chairs! They are elegant, comfortable and stylish. Much more interesting than chiavari chairs (in my opinion).
Last venue we checked out was Laperouse. This venue was also very historic, right by the Seine with lots of character.
So, which venue did we choose? Stay tuned for part deux.
