Not All Cakes Are Created Equal

I have to admit, I love to eat.  Eating yummy things fills me with joy.  So, I’m sure this does not come as a big surprise that one of the biggest perks of my job is tasting things, whether that be appetizers, salads, entrees or desserts.  Recently, I’ve been tasting cakes for a birthday celebration, so this week’s find of the week is not so much a find as opposed to a tip.  And here it is, not all cakes are created equal.  Now, you may say, “Duh, of course, some are better than others”, but there is more to it than that.  Contrary to popular belief, not all cakes are good.  It may seem that way because you think, “Ooh, cake”, but cake does not always equal good.   The perfect cake is a combination of good cake, good frosting and the right ratio of each to each other.  It’s a delicate balance that puts some

The perfect cake is a combination of good cake, good frosting and the right ratio of each to each other.  It’s a delicate balance that puts some cakes way ahead of others.  And thus, not all cakes are good.  And the worst thing is to pay money for a junk cake.  So, the next time you are choosing between different cakes for any party (or just to eat), think about all the parts that make up a cake and make sure yours fits the bill.  And as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yumminess is in the mouth of the eater.  So, get eating!  And have some fun too.  You are eating cake afterall.
