Wedding Wednesdays Q&A: Destination Wedding

Wedding Wednesdays Q&A by Jamie Chang Destination Wedding Planner of Mango Muse Events

Q: What’s the difference between having a wedding here and having a destination wedding?

So, you all know that we love destination weddings here at Mango Muse Events, but it’s not necessarily the right choice for everyone.  There are many differences between having a wedding at home and a destination wedding like location, travel, planning from afar, language, currency, pricing, etc…  But, I think the real difference between having a wedding where you live and having a destination wedding is the experience.

Most of the time destination weddings are smaller and so it’s more intimate which is really nice.  Don’t get me wrong, you can definitely have an intimate wedding where you live, but generally those tend to be larger and the larger the wedding the less intimate it is.  Also, because it is a smaller group and because you are all together in a different place, you band together and get to have a shared experience of the place beyond the wedding.  I think that is one of the most special things about it and what makes a destination wedding different from a wedding where you live.  The trip itself and the days and nights you spend together in this new place are part of your wedding experience.  You get to bond together and make memories together in a way you don’t when you have a wedding at home.
