March winds and April showers have flown by and now the May flowers are blooming! With May upon us and summer closely approaching, have you thought about the flowers for your wedding or event? Flowers always add color and beauty to any event, but sometimes they end up being just something to put on a table. But, they can mean so much more! So, today we’re talking sharing some May flower inspiration.
Individual flowers each have a meaning associated with it, but more importantly, they all have a feeling they can portray. Flowers like calla lilies are very architectural while ranunculus are rustic and peonies are romantic. You don’t have to use just one type either! Combining different flowers to express who you are and what your style is can make it even more personalized.
On a recent trip to Seattle, I was in tulip heaven. They are personally my favorite flower and it was just amazing to see so many different colors and types all at once. I wanted to buy them all and do a tulip only wedding! Does anyone want a tulip wedding? If so, I’m your woman! You have to check out these gorgeous blooms.
First up, you’ve got your standard tulips in every possible color. I was really digging the purple and peach colored ones.
Then you have these fluffy peony tulips, gorgeousness.
And then the fun, Parrot tulips with their awesome feather like ends. I love the texture.
Lovely right? But, don’t forget about plants, succulents and branches as well. Just because a plant doesn’t have a flower, doesn’t mean it should be only in the background. I designed a wedding recently where trees were the centerpiece and the focal point and it turned out beautiful. Make your event come alive and create a garden ala French, English or urban style. If you are all about going green, using trees and potted plants will also make your event very eco-conscious. They can even be favors for your guests or used to decorate your home after the event.
When you are thinking about the flowers and plants for your wedding or event, think about what will express who you are the best. It’s not just about color, it’s about the style and the feeling the design can evoke. If you need some help, there are many floral designers out there who can transform your vision into an artful arrangement and event designers (like myself) who can make it all come to life. You don’t have to do it on your own! Utilize your vendors for their knowledge and expertise. This is what they do and they have the creativity to make something new and unique just for you.
