March in review (Part 1) – 2 New Hawaii Wedding Venues

I know that it is almost the end of April, but March was an exciting and whirlwind month for me and for Mango Muse Events and I felt it needed some reflection.  Both Mango Muse Events and I personally celebrated birthdays and hopefully got not only older but a little wiser.  I was in Hawaii for the majority of the month prepping for a wedding and I got to check out 2 new Hawaii wedding venues that would be wonderful for a destination wedding.  They have great design and definitely sparked my creative side inspiring me for some future design.

First up is my visit to the new Morimoto Waikiki restaurant for their Relief for Japan event.  It was a great evening for a great cause.  I got my fill of artful food, good entertainment and some super interesting decor.  First off, the Dining Room at Morimoto Waikiki was super interesting.  I love the green couch seating, hardwood floors (with lights) and nods to Hawaiian decor without being touristy or generic.  It would make for a gorgeous reception area.

The Bar was pretty awesome with its lighted orchid design.  It’s almost a like a Rorschach isn’t it?  You can’t help but stare at it.

And of course, Chef Morimoto hard at work making some melt in your mouth sushi which I have to say I had plenty of.

Morimoto Waikiki is located in the new Waikiki Edition hotel which I also got to take a personal tour of.  Both the hotel and the restaurant are capable of holding a wedding and would be great for a smaller destination wedding.  The hotel is luxe, modern and has some awesome touches which make it stand out from other hotels in Waikiki.  It’s a boutique hotel and not for everyone, but I personally really dig it.  First off the reception area with the surfboards and wood countertop is artful and sleek.  The pool is a little rustic, but casual and cool.  Their “beach” area is like something out of a novel.  Their rooms are simple, but airy with some Hawaii touches without being cheesy.  I got a little taste of their food via a bacon wrapped hot dog by the pool and I must say it was yummy.  Both the hotel and the restaurant are fantastic Hawaii wedding venues for a destination wedding.
